The government is increasing involved in cloud computing in a major way – both as a growing consumer of cloud services and as a standard setter in developing technical best practices and recommendations for achieving and maintaining security and privacy when using cloud services. Recently the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released a draft for public comment of “Guidelines on Security and Privacy in Public Cloud Computing,” here, as part of ongoing developmental work by NIST’s various active cloud working groups.
